Clear Cache
Aside from the website itself, parts of the Poker software may also be dependent on your browser cache. Clearing the cache brings you back to a clean slate and removes items such as saved passwords (which may no longer be working).
Unable to Connect to the Poker Software
You may see the following error messages when launching the Poker software:
“Unable to connect”, “Can’t establish connection”.
To troubleshoot this error, you can update your DNS. If this doesn’t fix the issue, it’s possible that your firewall is turned on and we need to add the Poker software in the exception list. Here’s how:
1. Click the ‘Start’ button.
2. In the ‘Search’ bar, type ‘Firewall’
3. Click the ‘Windows Firewall’ from the search results.
4. Click ‘Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall’ from the left menu.
5. Click the ‘Change Settings’ button to allow changes to the current settings. Once clicked, the ‘Change Settings’ button will be greyed out.
6. Click the ‘Allow another program…’ button and wait for the list to load.
7. In the ‘Add a Program’ window, look for Poker program in the list (e.g. ‘BodogPoker’) then click it to select.
8. Click the ‘Network location types…’ button.
9. Under the ‘Choose Network Location Types’ window, click your preferred option whether to allow the app to access public or private networks, or both. Click ‘OK’.
10. Click ‘Add’ and you’ll be back to the previous window where you can click ‘OK’ to complete the changes.
Software Lags
The ‘spinning wheel’ constantly appears after many actions - this is attributed to an unstable connection on your side.
Change DNS
Like a regular telephone directory that matches people’s names with your phone numbers (so you know which number to call), DNS is a service that matches a name such as ‘google.com’ into a usable address such as ‘74.125.224.72’. So just like when you call another person by dialing your matching phone number, your computer also connects to the matching series of numbers when you visit our webpage or start our software.
What we’re doing here is changing the directory that your computer is looking at. Instead of using the default DNS (usually their ISP’s), we’re setting it up to use Google’s Public DNS service. This helps in situations where the ISP’s DNS server isn’t particularly quick at updating entries and your computers are ‘dialing wrong numbers’, so to speak. Even in a situation where there aren’t any connection issues, this is still generally a good idea because Google’s DNS servers normally respond faster than the ISPs to DNS requests.
Windows XP
1. Click the Start button and open the Control Panel.
For XP: Find the Network Connections icon and open it (If you don’t see icons and in the left hand, top part of the window there is an Option to “Switch to Classic View”, switch to Classic View first.)
2. Now you will need to open the “Properties” dialog for your main Internet connection. In this example, it is a wireless network. On your system, this may be a dial-up connection, a DSL connection, a Cable connection, etc… Right click on the icon to invoke the menu, and click the “Properties” option.
3. Next, in the “Connection Properties” dialog that appeared, you will need to scroll down and highlight the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” (don’t click on the “check box” as this will disable this protocol). Once the Protocol is highlighted, click on the “Properties” button. This will open a dialog for the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties”
4. If the “Obtain DNS Server automatically” section is in use, you will need to change it to “Use the following DNS server addresses”. Enter 8.8.8.8 as the primary address and 8.8.4.4 as the secondary address.
5. Click on OK until all the dialogs are closed.
Windows 7
1. Go the Control Panel.
2. Click Network and Internet, then Network and Sharing Center, and click Change adapter settings.
3. Select the connection for which you want to configure Google Public DNS.
For example:
To change the settings for an Ethernet connection, right-click Local Area Connection, and click Properties.
To change the settings for a wireless connection, right-click Wireless Network Connection, and click Properties.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
4. Select the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and then click Properties.
5. Click Advanced and select the DNS tab. If there are any DNS server IP addresses listed there, write them down for future reference, and remove them from this window.
6. Click OK.
7. Select Use the following DNS server addresses. If there are any IP addresses listed in the Preferred DNS server or Alternate DNS server, write them down for future reference. Replace those addresses with the IP addresses of the Google DNS servers:
For IPv4: 8.8.8.8 (primary) and 8.8.4.4. (Secondary)
For IPv6: 2001:4860:4860::8888 (primary) and (secondary) 2001:4860:4860::8844
*NOTE: If in doubt, just change the IPv4 address. Very few people are using IPv6.
8. Restart the connection you selected in step 3.
Mac OS X
1. From the Apple menu, click System Preferences, then click Network.
2. If the lock icon in the lower left-hand corner of the window is locked, click the icon to make changes, and when prompted to authenticate, enter your password.
3. Select the connection for which you want to configure Google Public DNS. For example:
To change the settings for an Ethernet (a.k.a. 'wired') connection, select Built-In Ethernet, and click Advanced.
To change the settings for a wireless connection, select Airport, and click Advanced Properties. (In newer OS X versions, 'Airport' is replaced by 'WiFi')
4. Select the DNS tab.
5. Click + to replace any listed addresses with, or add, the Google IP addresses at the top of the list:
For IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and/or 8.8.4.4.
For IPv6: 2001:4860:4860::8888 and/or 2001:4860:4860::8844
*Note: If in doubt, just change the IPv4 address. Very few people are using IPv6.
6. Click Apply and OK.
