Fiesta Bowl Betting Matchup
Last season’s Big 12 champion did not play in the Fiesta Bowl, as is customary, because they had other plans. Texas won the conference title with a 70-3 rout of Colorado and advanced to the national title game, where Vince Young’s heroics brought glory to the Longhorns.
The 2007 edition of the Fiesta Bowl could see Texas back against a BCS at-large foe, a year after Independent Notre Dame and Ohio State of the Big Ten battled it out. You can bet Ohio State doesn’t plan to come back here either, as they have designs on the BCS title game themselves.
The 2006 Fiesta Bowl pitted two top quarterbacks and two top coaches against each other. And Ohio State got the best of both matchups in winning their third Fiesta Bowl in four seasons with a 34-20 thumping of the Irish.
Troy Smith outplayed Brady Quinn on the field. Jim Tressel outwitted Charlie Weis on the sidelines. And that was enough to ensure Notre Dame lost its eighth straight bowl game and ensured Buckeye backers pocketed cash from a -4.5 line at Bodog.com

History of the Fiesta Bowl
The Fiesta Bowl was made part of the Bowl Championship Series in 1999. As one of four BCS bowls, the Fiesta Bowl had shared in the rotation of the National Championship Game. Starting with the 2006-2007 season, a new national title game will feature the top two BCS-ranked schools in a battle for national supremacy.
In recognition of its sponsor, the official name of the game is the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
The Fiesta Bowl has been owned by Ohio State the past few seasons. The Big Ten school won the 2006 edition with a 34-20 victory over Notre Dame and won back-to-back trophies in 2003 and 2004.
In 2004, they handled Kansas State out of the Big 12 to the tune of 35-28. A year earlier, they ground out a 31-24 victory over Miami.
