Nad Al Sheba Racecourse, which has three chutes, is located 10 minutes from the centre of Dubai. Its dirt track was first laid out in 1986. The 2,000-metre chute is used for the Dubai World Cup. Horses race around two gradual left hand turns before entering the 600-metre (3/8-mile) finishing straight.
The United Arab Emirates racing (UAE) season climaxes with the Dubai World Cup meeting, the world's richest race day, which features three of the most valuable races in the world.
The highlight is the $6 million Dubai World Cup, sponsored by Emirates Airline, which was won in 2007 by American-trained Invasor. The other major races supporting the Dubai World Cup are the $5 million Dubai Sheema Classic and the $5 million Dubai Duty Free.
