Monticello Raceway officially opened on June 27, 1958. Located in the Sullivan County Catskills in upstate New York, the scenic raceway was named after the nearby village of Monticello.
Throughout the years, Monticello has been known for exciting harness racing as well as some equally exciting promotions. For example, its Rock'n'Racing night has combined some of the biggest musicians of the day, such as Ike and Tina Turner, with harness racing. As well, media attention grabbers like elephant races and man vs. horse races have been witnessed at Monticello. The excitement continues today with Monticello's addition of The Mighty M Gaming as well as the New York Sires Stakes.
